Hello,
I really need help, I do not want the answers to these questions I really just need to know how to set these problems up. Please help.
*Translate the problem into a pair of linear equations in two variables. Solve the equations using either elimination or substitution. State your answer for both variables.*
1.An express train and a local train leave a station at the same time (on separate tracks) and head for a town 50 miles away. The express travels twice as fast as the local and arrives 1 hour ahead of the local. Find the speed of each train.
2. In a chemistry class, 5 liters of a 4%-saline solution must be mixed with a 10% solution to get a 6% solution. How many liters of the 10% solution are needed?
3. A plane flies 400 miles with the wind and 300 miles against the wind in the same length of time. If the speed of the wind is 22 mph, what is the speed of the plane in still air?
Please if you can help it would be greatly appreciated
I just need to know the the pair of linear equations in all 3 problems, I can do the rest I just can't get that first step in the 3 problems how to set them up!!!!
